The one constant.

Some people will always have a problem with you, no matter what you do. You can become defensive, bothered and hurt. You can let it bring you down and ruin your day. You can allow the opinions of someone else consume you and get under your skin. Or you can choose to not give a shit and be happy. Sounds simple enough, right? It’s not always that easy, but I can tell you with certainty that it’s worth it.

I’m not talking about doing whatever the hell you want even if it hurts someone and then not giving a shit. I’m talking about you trying to live your best life and releasing the people who don’t want that for you. You know who they are. The ones who criticize and judge you, speak hurtful things about you behind your back and seem to take pleasure in your pain. These are the ones who are not worthy of your worry, so stop giving it to them.

We are constantly changing. Sometimes people have a hard time accepting that. Things that were important to me a year ago might not hold the same value to me anymore. The things I enjoy doing today are much different than they used to be. The behavior I used to allow is no longer acceptable to me. I find meaning and beauty in things like nature, true friendship and being authentic. I desire safety and security and adoration, and I am not ashamed to admit that. I have lost relationships because of these changes in me. It’s called growth. And it’s a powerful and necessary thing for someone who wants to be happy.

Growth is a constant. At least for me it is because it’s important to me. I want to continue learning and discovering and evolving. I want to be the best possible version of myself. Relationships are successful when people can grow together. In your relationships and friendships, sometimes you grow apart. But that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Sometimes it just must happen for you to reach your full potential. There are always going to be those who want to stunt your growth. Don’t let them. Keep moving forward. The moment you decide to let go of those who hold you back from growing as a person is a life changing moment.

I choose to do what makes me happy. It’s my life after all, not anyone else’s. My happiness is up to me. I will make many decisions that people don’t understand. But the only way that the cruelty and negativity of the world can get to me is if I let it. And I won’t let it. Don’t give anyone that power over you. Stay true to yourself and keep growing! When you are at peace with your journey, nothing can touch you. This is where you will find happiness. This is leveling up.

  1. I stumbled on your blog very randomly and synchronistically. I didn’t realize how much I needed to read this, today. Thank you so much for posting this reminder!

    All my best~
